What
is Community Planning?
Community
Planning is a process whereby a local authority and other local agencies
including community, voluntary, public and private sector organisations
come together to develop and implement a shared vision for promoting the
well being of the area.
Why
is Community Planning important?
-
We are all customers of
the public sector, whether we are borrowing a book from the local
library, visiting a GP or reporting a crime to the Police. In
the past, the service providers acted mainly on their own when
planning and delivering services to the public.
-
Not only does the
Community Planning process bring providers together for Moray as a
whole, but also to plan for each local area within Moray.
-
By working in partnership,
services can be more effective.
-
It's the law!
Community Planning is a legal requirement following the passing of the
Local
Government in Scotland Act 2003.
-
In 2008 the Partnership
drew up a Single Outcome Agreement with the Scottish Government to
deliver a series of national and local outcomes. The agreement
will be reviewed and revised annually.
